A nuc (or nucleus colony) is a functioning and thriving colony of bees with a mated, marked queen and five deep frames (wood and/or plastic) with varying stages of brood, as well as honey and pollen stores. Available mid-April 2025, weather permitting - PICKUP ONLY.
FIRST ROUND- AVAIL. MID APRIL- NEW FOR 2025- These nucs are overwintered, ensuring that you get a proven queen and a colony that's ready to increase rapidly in the spring. All overwintered nucs contain a green dot marked 2024 late season produced queen.
SECOND ROUND- AVAIL. EARLY JUNE- Queens raised in Spring 2025 and are marked (blue dot.)
These bees are raised by Mill Creek Apiary, and NOT imported from other parts of the country- they are acclimated to our climate and environment, and have proven desirable traits. We get excellent feedback on the gentleness, workability, and productivity of our bees.
Our bees are inspected yearly by the NJ Department of Agriculture, and we are certified to sell nucs and queens.
The bees come in a plastic corrugated jester nuc box.
We will notify you with status updates and anticipated pickup dates as soon as we see what the spring weather brings.
