Many of us look forward to the sweet, juicy blueberries that come each July, but the magic begins in the spring, when beehives are placed on blueberry fields for pollination. New Jersey is one of the top producers in the US, mainly cultivating the highbush blueberry. In fact, the blueberry is our state fruit!
Our pure, natural, raw Blueberry Honey is the honey produced from pollinating these blueberry fields. It has a subtle sweet taste of blueberry, a rich delicious texture, and medium amber color.
This varietal is ideal if you are looking for maximum health benefits. Like the berries themselves, Blueberry Honey is highly antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory- more so than other varietals of honey! Consume to aid the immune system, or use topically, such as on wounds or as a face mask.
Include it in a honey-tasting (think wine-tasting but sweeter and friendly for all ages!) with our other varietals: Cranberry Honey, Pine Barrens Honey, and Wildflower Honey. You will notice the nuances in taste and texture. Blueberry Honey has been described as having full flavor with buttery, earthy, and tangy notes, and a light blueberry aftertaste.
Try pairing our Blueberry Honey with cheese, yogurt, granola, or muffins. It may crystallize sooner than other honey due to a higher content of sucrose and large pollen grains, but honey never goes bad. Use it as a spread, or place in a warm water bath to return to its original consistency. See recipes with Blueberry Honey here.
*Please note: Blueberry Honey is NOT flavored with blueberry. It is purely the result of pollinating blueberry blossoms.
