Come out to the apiary, slip on a veil (provided), and dive into the hive with us! We will be setting our 2023 schedule very soon. Max. 10-12 participants. Our workshops sell out quickly, so if you’re interested, click "Out of Stock? Click Here", enter your email, and we'll notify you as soon as we have dates to choose from.
This year our workshops will be held at The Jennings Farm in Medford, 40 Jennings Road, Medford, NJ 08055, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the farm to help support their ongoing efforts.
This runs approximately 1.5-2 hours, and is weather permitting. If the weather forecast isn't favorable for calm bees (including rain, wind, impending storm, temperature, etc.) you will be notified asap and given the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.
We reserve to right to cancel the event for any reason, at which time you would be notified and fully refunded.
During check out, when you enter personal information, you must provide an ACCURATE EMAIL ADDRESS- this allows us to email the Release of Liability Form- this must be fully completed and returned to us on the day of the workshop. This is a firm requirement.
Veils and rubber examination gloves will be provided. Clothes: wear comfortable, light colored, long sleeved shirt, pants, closed shoes. We will provide water. AVOID WEARING PERFUMES (deodorants, perfume, cologne, clothing detergents, lotions, etc.)
We will provide an overview of honey bee biology, hive dynamics, and challenges facing our beloved honeybees. The main focus of this field day is to give you direct access and hands-on experience! You will perform hive inspections along with us, and we'll explain the process as we go. Then we’ll all sample some delicious honey fresh from the hive!
You'll gain a new appreciation for the art of beekeeping, and hopefully catch the "bug" to start a colony of your own! And you'll leave with a jar of our raw MCA local wildflower honey!
Please email us directly (through the contact form) if you need financial assistance. We want this experience to be accessible to all, so we're happy to help if needed!
